Community Development

     AfricaHope comes alongside communities to help them overcome the challenges that face them. We dialogue with communities to discern what the most significant obstacles are for them and then work together to develop a plan for overcoming those obstacles. In this, AfricaHope seeks to provide networking opportunities, training, ideas, encouragement, and financial assistance.

     One particular emphasis of AfricaHope is HIV/AIDS. We work with communities to educate them about the disease and to develop plans for dealing with its affects, including caring for those with HIV/AIDS, fighting stigma, and caring for orphans. HIV/AIDS has made all of the other development issues in Africa more extreme, making people more susceptible to disease, less able to work, and more likely to leave children as orphans.

     We do see hope. Many Africans are working valiantly to help their own communities. Many are taking in the orphan children of their relatives and friends. Working together, we will be able to overcome and see a better tomorrow.
