Katie is a 2004 nursing graduate of the University of Southern Indiana, and worked as a nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for 6 years. She attended graduate school at Vanderbilt University and graduated in August 2008 as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. She worked for one year as a nurse practitioner before leaving for Kenya.

Katie began to feel an ever-growing calling towards missions around 2002, with a heart for infants and children in Africa, especially orphans and those suffering from the HIV/AIDS epidemic. She was introduced to NMSI in September 2005 during a short-term trip to Kenya, and fell in love with the people there, especially the Maasai. She affiliated with NMSI after attending COAT (NMSI training program) in Fall 2008.

God has led Katie to Kenya to share Christ’s love with the Maasai through community health development, with a special interest on prenatal and infant healthcare needs and education. She joined the AfricaHope team in 2010 and through this ministry hopes to spread the word of God through Christ-centered teaching on basic healthcare and prevention.
